When was the last time you backed up your website? Do you have a regular backup plan in place?
Would you be able to quickly restore your website should something unforseen happen?
In this day and age where everything is done online, it is more important than ever to have a backup process in place for your website data. Consider it an insurance plan.
• Most web hosts do not backup your data*. It is your responsibility to make a local copy of any critical data on your website.
• Accidents happen. People delete stuff all the time. Isn't it worth the peace of mind, knowing that if something should happen, your data could be quickly restored?
• If you have a database website (shopping cart etc) your data will be constantly changing. You should consider making more frequent differential backups so that the integrity of your information in never compromised.
The simple answer is: how much time and money could you afford to spend on re-entering your information, images, videos etc?
How often will depend on how regularly the information on your website is being updated.
Don't forget: Check your backups regularly to ensure that are working properly.
